The Barry Boat Base team can provide various water activities from Raft Building, Kayaking, Open Canoe’s, Sit On Kayak’s, Sailing, Power boating, Rowing & Bell Boating. We can run boating session mainly in the evening and also on weekends if enough notice is given.
We are a small team and are committed to giving every member of the scout movement within the scout Area a chance to experience a water activity. We are able to run various types of courses or various types of badges for all ages.
If you are interested in bringing your members down to Barry Docks. We can run any type of session that you require depending on instructor availability for example we can run, Sailing, Kayaking & Power boating in one session or just Sailing. What we do require is that your leaders stay and help out where needed.
The boating base is a busy place so you do require to book your night and time through the booking site . Once you have completed the form, you will receive an email confirming that this night is suitable and free. We will try to accommodate your request but this is not always possible.
During the week a session will start at 18:30 to 20:30 and on the weekend the times are 10:00 to 12:00 or 13:00 to 15:00 or you can book for a full day.
If you do not require the district team to provide you with any equipment or skilled instructors, as you have your own crafts this is not a problem as you can bring along your own crafts, but you still are needed to complete a booking form with all details.
£8 per head for evening session
£10 per head for all day session.
Small Power Craft for 2 hour session. £25
Large Power Craft for 2 hour session. £35
(Use of Power craft is included with fuel, but this is for training purpose any excess driving a further charge of fuel will be invoiced. No Charge for Power Craft if used as Safety Boat Cover)

2-hour session: £20
Full Day: £30
2 hour session: £7 per person
Full Day: £8 per person

This will entitle the group to boat as many time as they wish, only extra cost will be for power boat used for training, if using power boat for safety cover this is included within cost of yearly membership. The group will still have to book to confirm equipment and any instructors required.
Cost for year: £360 if paid before 30th April 2024 and £390 after this date.
