Facilities & location of St Brides Major Scout Lodge

The Tir a Môr Scout Lodge is located in the small village of St Brides Major with a great location to Ogmore-by-Sea and the Heritage coast walks. The lodge is surrounded by woodlands and is a short walk to the Ogmore Moors.

If you wish to undertake back to basic Scouting and lower lever walking then this Lodge is for you. Outside of the hall is an area for fire lighting in the camp fire circle, great area’s for Axe and Saw work, wonder into the woods for shelter building and anything with just getting back to basic’s in all things scouting. As mentioned the hall is in a great location for either a one night stop for DofE expeditions or scout expeditions if walking through or having a base for many local walks.

The Lodge itself

The lodge use to be a scout hall so host’s itself to a large hall, toilets, fully fitted kitchen. The lodge has a supply of table, chairs & bench’s to be used and various camping and scouting equipment if required along with screen projector and speakers.

Outside of the Lodge.

Within the grounds of the lodge is an area for outdoor gas/ fire cooking which is under shelter and within the shelter are 2 sinks with running cold water. Also within the shelter is power and lighting so very useful for night cooking as well. We have provided 2 gas cookers, so just need to bring your own gas. We can also proved all the pots and pans you require.

On the side and behind the lodge we have a small area which can be used for lightweight camping and games with one part covered. If not being used for camping then this area can be turned into a Archery/Shooting range. If you are a little more adventurous you can hire our hammocks with shelter and sleep in the woods.

Also within the grounds we have to large wooden decking which can be used to training or just chilling out, one of these decking is the platform which is to be used for the rock climbing wall.

As within the agreement from the District Exec committee each section within the district is able to stay at the hall one night a year free of charge all other evenings & overnight camps will be charged . If you require anymore information please email scoutlodge@tir-a-mor-scouts.org.uk

Charges for hire of scout lodge for District Groups for 2024

Per hour rate: £8

Date Rate up to 6 hours : £40

Overnight Stay : £50

Friday to Sunday: £80

Charges for all other groups outside district and public for 2024

Per hour rate: £12

Day rate up to 6 hours: £60

Overnight Stay : £70

Friday to Sunday : £100

Equipment for hire.

We have a large amount of equipment that can be hired or is free to use at the scout lodge, if you need to know more please visit the Resources page and then District Equipment & District Van.

Rock Climbing Wall.

We have a Rock climbing wall situated behind the scout lodge which can be hired. This wall can only be used by a trained leader with the correct scouting permit. We do have some trained instructor that may be able to run the session as long as we have another time. We have enough climbing equipment for 12 climbers to undertake climbing. Bouldering Wall

We also have a small bouldering wall which is free to use.

Scout Lodge Campfire Blanket Badge

If you wish to order a camp blanket badge for anyone that is staying at the Scout Lodge please inform at time of booking, The cost for the badge is £1.50 each. The badge measure’s 4″ wide and 2″deep.
